Donald Stewart was a lifelong Weymouth resident with a strong sense for civic duty. Immediately following high school, he enrolled in the United States Marine Corps and traveled the country and world mostly stationed in Camp Pendleton, San Diego, Twenty Nine Palms, California and Okinawa, Japan. Upon returning home to Weymouth, he began the next phase of his life by starting a family with his wife Deborah Sweeney, where they raised four children. He moved back into his childhood home to care for his ailing mother as her health declined and lived there until his last day. His sense of duty continued by being continuously employed by General Dynamics, which acquired his previous employers Sylvania and GTE, where he worked on communication systems for various projects. Through his career, he found a love for technology. An early adopter of the world wide web(www) he was always in his tech den tinkering with building computers and automating the household. Furthering his sense of civic duty, he successfully ran as a commissioner for the Department of Public Works, as well as Town Meeting member in Weymouth. He was allegedly one of the first political candidates to use a url on lawn signs. Later in life he connected more nature by raising hens for egg production and continued with his vegetable gardens with cucumbers and tomatoes being his specialty.

Donald passed away on 4/11/2026 and leaves behind his wife Deborah of 53 years, four children, Donald Stewart Jr and wife Pam of Tampa Florida, Holly St. Pierre and husband Mike of Cumberland RI, Eric Stewart and wife Rachel of Needham, MA, Kara Stewart of Weymouth, MA, and his six grandchildren, Owen, Arianna, Kailee, Cody, Lucy and Sam. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph Stewart Sr and Jane MacDonnell Stewart, as well as his sister Marylou Stewart Hobson. He also leaves behind his brothers Ralph (Doris) of Panama City, Florida and William (Doris) Stewart of Wilmington, NC, as well as several nieces and nephews.
