Donalda Beatrice Monteiro, devoted wife of Mardoqueu (Monty) Monteiro, beloved mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away on June 14, 2026, in Boston, Massachusetts, at the age of 75.

Born on September 16, 1950, in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada, she was the eldest of seven siblings. Seeking new opportunities and driven by her desire to work in the medical field, Donalda relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she met her husband, Mardoqueu Monteiro. Together, they raised a family. Much of her life was spent in Randolph, Massachusetts, and her final years were spent with her husband at their son Daniel’s home, enjoying life and creating lasting memories with his family.

A devoted matriarch, Donalda was deeply committed to nurturing her sons, David and Daniel Monteiro, and cherished her role as a grandmother to Ella, Brayden, Abigail, and Ivy. Known for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering support, she was the emotional backbone of her family. Professionally, she dedicated more than 32 years to nursing at Boston Medical Center, where she exemplified kindness, strength, dedication, and exceptional care for others. Her passions included family gatherings, home decorating, dining out, and traveling. She leaves behind a profound legacy of love.

Donalda is survived by her husband, Mardoqueu; her two sons, David and Daniel; and their families. She is also lovingly remembered by her siblings residing in Massachusetts and Canada: Elizabeth Hunt, Janice Hunt, Marina Hannah, Scott Black, Martin Black, and their families. Donalda was preceded in death by her brother, William ("Bill") Black, and her parents, Donald and Margaret Black.

Her love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her, and her memory will be cherished always. As the poem Footprints in the Sand reminds us, “When you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.”

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and staff at Tufts Medical Center for their exceptional care, compassion, and unwavering support throughout her illness.

A visitation will be held on June 27, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, Quincy, Massachusetts.
