Donnie Elaine (Huntington) Bates, 100, of Bourne, formerly of Weymouth passed away peacefully October 5, 2016.
Beloved mother of Earl S. Bates and his wife Mary McDonough of Centerville and Doris E. Quinn and her husband Jack of Hyde Park. Dear “Aunt Donnie” of the late William T. Coffey. Donnie is survived by 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In her earlier years, Donnie was an acclaimed singer and stage performer who had an opportunity to tour and perform with the Fred Wearing Band. Donnie was a distinguished supervisor for Raytheon, traveling to Ireland to educate and train many employees of the company. Dedicated to caring for her family, she worked for 51 years as a waitress at Morey Pearls Restaurant in Quincy. In her spare time, Donnie loved to knit and tend to her garden.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 1-5PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home NORTH WEYMOUTH at 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A – Bicknell Square). Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 10 AM Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in East Weymouth Congregational Church, 1320 Commercial Street, Weymouth, MA 02189 at 11AM. Burial will follow in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
