Dorothea M. “Dot” (Davis) Meyer of Hingham, formerly of Cape Cod, West Roxbury, Roslindale and South Boston, died October 20, 2018. The beloved wife of the late Carl A. Meyer, Jr. Loving mother of Carl A. Meyer III and his wife Elaine of Dedham, Robert A. Meyer and his wife Karen of Falmouth, Cheryl A. Egan and her husband Thomas of Saugus, Lisa M. Salvas and her husband Raymond of Holden and Lori M. Gaudreau and her husband Michael of Wilmington. Dot is also survived by her nine loving grandchildren, Valerie, Jennifer, Eric, Katie, Carolyn, Mason, Emma, Oliver and Joseph. Sister of the late Virginia McCole and George Davis.
Dot was born in South Boston and educated by the Sisters of Notre Dame at St. Augustine’s School. Dot married Carl A. Meyer, Jr. and lived in Roslindale for several years before moving to West Roxbury. While in West Roxbury she became active in social and school functions especially Mt. St. Joseph Academy. She worked for the Boston School Department as Headmaster’s secretary for 25 years at Boston High School. Dot and Carl moved to West Harwich in 1983 and continued a rewarding life helping and doing for others. While in Harwich, Dot spent 16 years volunteering with the Friends of Harwich as a coordinator, responsible for transportation. Dot was also a town representative to Elder Services for 6 years serving on the Board of the Friends of COA – responsible for the building of the Community Center. She was active at Holy Trinity Parish and volunteered at the thrift store and served as a Eucharistic Minister for six years. She also served on many other committees. Dot and Carl loved spending winters in Florida where they enjoyed the beaches and sunshine. In 2006 Dot and Carl moved to Linden Ponds in Hingham and happily joined the social life there.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Funeral Mass in Resurrection Church, 1057 Main Street, Hingham on Thursday, November 8, 2018 at 10AM.
