Dorothy Ann “Dottie” Duggan Boyle of Weymouth, formerly a resident of Quincy for many years, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. She was 88.
She was born in Cambridge to Frances Agnes (Walsh) and Walter Francis Duggan and raised in Arlington. When she was 5 the family moved to the Wollaston neighborhood of Quincy, where she called home before moving to Weymouth where she lived for nearly 60 years. After graduating from Quincy High School, she went on to work at the New England Telephone Company in Boston. Once she started a family, she stayed home to raise the kids and returned to work once they were in high school. She started at the Sheraton Tara Hotel and worked there for several years before earning a position as a clerk in the Weymouth Town Hall. She made many lasting friendships and a lasting impact on the Town of Weymouth in her 17 years there.
Dorothy loved walking, painting, playing piano, traveling to Italy and Ireland, and especially cooking for those she loved. She was known for her wonderful meals, infectious laugh, and magnetic personality that could light up any room.
Above all, Dorothy cherished time with her children and grandchildren. A devout Catholic, she lived her life with faith, love, and generosity toward family and friends.
Devoted mother to Deborah Boyle of Weymouth, Michael Boyle and his wife Janie of New Boston, NH, Donna Hughes and her husband Richard of Halifax, and Brenda Rossi and her husband Paul of Pembroke. Adoring grandmother to Kristin “Meridian”, Colleen, Lauren “Nora”, Erin, Rachel, Bridget, Nolan, Angela and Nathan. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, John Joseph Boyle, and siblings: Walter, Robert and Paul Duggan.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visitation on Friday, May 22, from 9-10 AM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Ann’s Church, Quincy at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Dorothy’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
