Dorothy R. “Dottie” Ryan of Quincy, formerly of Hyannis, died April 12, 2016, surrounded by her family. Daughter of the late William J. Ryan and Mary F. (Powell) Ryan. Sister of William J. Ryan Jr. and his his wife Brenda of Quincy, and Judith E. Ryan of Arizona.Loving Aunt of Michele Alvarez of Quincy. Cherished niece of Ethel O’Neil of Kingston. Dear cousin of Richard Ryan of Needham. Dottie is also survived by many cousins and family members.
A longtime Quincy resident, Dottie also lived in Hyannis for many years before returning back to Quincy. She graduated from Suffolk University and the University of Mass, where she received her Masters degree in Education. Dottie taught in Quincy for more than 30 years. She was a ceramic instructor and enjoyed crocheting, painting and upholstering. While living in Hyannis she was active at the Barnstable Senior Center. Her family was the cornerstone of all that was truly important to her. Dottie will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 2-6 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday at 10:30 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy.
Burial in Mt. Benedict Cemetery, Boston.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dottie may be made to Alzheimers Assn., MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
