It is with deep sorrow we must announce Dr. John A. Silva of Hull, MA passed away on May 1, 2025 at the age of 91. He was the devoted husband of Mary Jane (Loiacono) Silva. Father of Deborah, John and Paul Silva and step father of Laurie, Danny, Teri and John and the late Wendy Finn.
Born in New Bedford, MA he served in the United States Navy for 4 years and retired from the United States Army as LT. Col. for 19 years. John attended Georgetown University where he received his DDS and set up his practice in Hull for many years until joining the VA and became Chief of Dental in West Hartford, CT and went on to become Professor in Dental at University of Connecticut , Chief Dental in Marion, IN. Upon his moving back to Hull, John became very involved in town politics, serving on the Selectman Board, School Committee, Lions Club, Town Moderator, coaching Little League, VFW, K of C,and Parish Council at St. Ann’s Church where he was also a Lector and CCD teacher. John had a familiar and friendly face and a great personality. He was well known for his interests in sports and politics but always made time for laughs with his quick wit. He never ceased to make time to show how deeply passionate he was about his family and friends. He will be truly missed by those whose lives he touched and the love he bestowed on all.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family on Saturday, May 10, 2025 from 9:30 - 10:30 in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John May be made to St. Mary’s Parish, 208 Samoset Ave., Hull, MA 02045. Arrangements were completed by the Keohane Funeral Home.
