Edmund Thomas Grogan, Jr. of Quincy, died on November 16, 2025, surrounded by his family. The beloved husband of the late Virginia Sears Grogan. Loving father of Erin Grogan and Patrick Grogan both of Quincy and Kathryn E.G. Reardon and her husband Blake of Minneapolis, MN. Brother of Mary Ellen Grogan of Quincy, Noreen Grogan of Litchfield, Ct., Kevin Grogan of Quincy, Sara Capaccioli of Hanson and the late Kathleen Grogan and Michael Grogan. Cherished Papa of Shawn Patrick Clancy; Kingston, Mackenzie and Brody Grogan; Henry, Walter and Pirece Reardon. Ed also leaves behind many other beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws.
Ed was a dedicated schoolteacher, retiring from Atlantic Middle School in Quincy after decades of service. He enjoyed spending time at the Savin Hill Yacht Club with his fellow members and working on his many boats over the years. He loved sailing around Cape Cod and the Islands on his Pearson 30, The Leprechaun, and racing his Thunderbird with family and friends. He was a car lover, acquiring a ’76 Volkswagen convertible and an ’87 Porsche 911 convertible. He served in the Peace Corps after college and was stationed in Mexico and later Colombia. He was a staunch human rights activist and was a member of the Quincy Human Rights Commission for many years. Ed was always willing to talk and will be missed by those fortunate to have known him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, Nov. 28th from 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday Nov. 29th at 10 AM in Keohane Funeral Home, Quincy. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Edmund may be made to the City of Quincy, Quincy Human Rights Commission, 1305 Hancock Street, Quincy, MA 02169.
