Edward James Adamson, resident of Hingham, passed away on April 25, 2025, at the age of 80. Born and raised in Weymouth, Edward was the cherished son of Helen (Delargy) and George Adamson. As a young man, he developed a passion for boating, and then pursued his engineering training at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, where he formed lifelong connections and friendships. Edward served in the Merchant Marine during the Vietnam War and traveled to Africa, India, and Vietnam. He completed his engineering training at Northeastern University and worked as a systems engineer in the electrical power plant industry for his entire career. After retirement, he volunteered as an AARP Tax-Aide Volunteer to help older adults in the community prepare and file their annual tax returns. Edward was an active, lifelong member of the Town River Yacht Club where he found camaraderie and friendship among fellow members.
Edward was the devoted husband of Patricia Adamson. Their loving union spanned nearly six decades, and together, they grew a beautiful family in Hingham. Edward is survived by Patricia and their children: Ted Adamson, and his husband Eric Hess; James Adamson, and his wife Sarah; Leanne Adamson; Megan Navin, and her husband Corey. He was the loving Grampy to Novi, Eleanor, George, and Abigail.
Edward was also the adoring brother of Mickey (Adamson) Carr and a true brother-in-law to Al and Cathy Clifford, Janice and Eddie Pray, and Nancy Clifford. Edward's life was fulfilled by playing golf with his usual group, boating and fishing, and running the annual Hingham July 4th road race. His family, friends, neighbors, and colleagues profoundly miss his warmth, kindness, and humor.
