Edward J. Connerty, Jr. of Norwell, passed suddenly, Friday, April 3, at the age of 56. Beloved Husband of Colleen (Shea) Connerty. Devoted Father of Catherine Connerty, Grace Connerty, and Allison Connerty. Loving son of Alice and the late Edward J. Connerty, Sr. Dear brother of Mark Connerty, Kara Connerty, and Brian Connerty and his wife Kendall. Loving Son In Law of Joan and the late James J. Shea, Jr. Brother In Law of Lisa Shea, James Shea and his wife Jackie, and Joan Margaret and her husband Erik. He will be missed by his aunts and uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
Edward was born in Boston on August 16, 1969 and was the son of Edward J. Connerty, Sr. and Alice (Murphy) Connerty. He was raised in Norwell and graduated from Norwell High School. Eddie grew up in a close-knit family, with his loving parents, brothers and sister. Eddie was blessed with a loving household that instilled the character traits he would embody the rest of his life.
Eddie met the love of his life and best friend, his wife Colleen. They were married for twenty nine wonderful years and had three loving daughters in Catherine, Grace, and Allie. Eddie loved coaching his daughters in soccer and basketball, skiing as a family at Cannon and Tenney Mountains, camping and golfing at Point Sebago, memorable trips to Disney World and Old Orchard Beach, and cheering for his daughters at their high school and college games. Eddie was happiest in his role as a husband and father and his children were his proudest accomplishment. Eddie worked hard to instill certain values in his children, including leading a life of integrity and trying to do the right thing even in the face of adversity, as he had tried to do in his own life.
Eddie’s natural enthusiasm and outgoing nature made him a friend to countless people that enriched his life as he enriched theirs. Ed was also a proud union member, and found his calling as a Local 7 Ironworker. He worked on many of the skyscrapers, bridges, and tunnels that adorn Boston, first as a skilled foreman, and later as a partner of Regis Steel Company.
Eddie loved skiing, golfing, biking, and the softball leagues in Quincy and Norwell he played in and managed. Eddie loved life and lived a full one, with lots of laughter and love, and left his loved ones with many happy memories. He left this world with no regrets except that he could not live in it a little bit longer. He will be mightily missed, always loved, and never forgotten.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during a visitation on Sunday, April 12, 2026, from 3-7 PM at the Keohane Funeral Home at 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY, MA 02170. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM on Monday, April 13, 2026 at St. John’s Church in Quincy. A burial will follow at Stetson Meadows Cemetery in Norwell.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eddie’s name can be made to the Pan Mass Challenge (Eddie’s team is ‘Team Just A Bump In The Road’, a team on which Eddie had many roles over the years: rider, transportation coordinator, water boy, and supporter).
