Eileen Gleavy, age 84, of Weymouth, Massachusetts died peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.
Born in Boston, Eileen was raised in Hyde Park and had lived in Weymouth for 40 years.
Eileen retired after many years of bookkeeping for a local law firm. She was a dedicated parishioner and volunteer throughout her life, beginning with the Most Precious Blood School and then St. Francis Xavier Church and School in Weymouth. She was also a committed member of many local organizations from Camp Fire Girls to The Great Dane Club of New England.
Eileen was the beloved wife of the late John Gleavy. She was the devoted mother of Kathleen McCarthy of Weymouth, Patricia Gleavy and her husband William Hanley of New Hampshire, John Gleavy and his wife Colleen of Lakeville, and the late Dennis Gleavy and his surviving wife Carol Murphy of San Francisco, California.
Eileen was a devoted Nana to her grandchildren, Liam Burns, Paul McCarthy, Bridget McCarthy, Allison Gleavy and Caitlin Gleavy all of Massachusetts, Emma Gleavy and Sean Gleavy of California, and the late Wm. Patrick Hanley. Also survived by her good friend and sister-in-law Mary Gleavy, her nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her siblings Judith and Bill.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to join the family during visiting hours on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, from 8:30-9:30 AM, in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Route 18, opposite of South Shore Hospital).
Eileen's Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 10 AM, in St. Francis Xavier Church, Weymouth.
Services will conclude with interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Weymouth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent in Eileen's name to Compassionate Care ALS, P.O. Box 1052, West Falmouth, MA 02574.
