Doherty, Elaine M. (Flaherty) of Quincy, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children at home on December 28, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Most beloved mother of Colleen Kane and her husband Michael of Mansfield, Dan Doherty and his wife Chelsea of Boston and Stephen P. Doherty, Jr. of Chicago. Loving daughter of Helen “Penny” (McLaughlin) Flaherty of Mansfield and the late Thomas E. Flaherty. Sister of Terri McGrath of Raynham, Ann Bottini of Brockton, Kathy Vose of Raynham, Judy Durkin of Franklin and Thomas E. Flaherty, Jr. of Stoughton. Cherished Nana of Harrison, Kinsley and Benson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Elaine previously worked for State Street Bank in business management. She enjoyed traveling, hosting in her home, her book club, sewing, and interior decorating but her children and grandchildren brought her the most joy. Her family and her faith were the cornerstone of all that was truly important to her. She will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have known her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Agatha’s Church, Milton at 9 AM.
In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Elaine may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
