Brennan, Elizabeth A. “Liz” of Dedham, formerly of Weymouth died peacefully at home in the care of hospice on April 18, 2024 at the age of 59. Liz was a longtime resident of Weymouth.
The youngest of 10 children, Liz was born with a severe form of Spina Bifida which left her paralyzed from the chest down. Complications of a failed shunt also left her legally blind. At age 2 she was accepted at the Massachusetts Hospital School in Canton where she received lifesaving healthcare and an education. Her parents made sure Liz came home every weekend to spend time with her siblings and participate in many family parties and gatherings. She graduated from Brayton High School, Massachusetts Hospital School on June 7, 1981. Liz lived here until the age of 22 at which time she came home to Weymouth for several years. When at-home care was no longer feasible Liz found a group home through the Massachusetts Association for the Blind. It was here that she met her best friend, Roberta and some very special staff.
Liz was an avid Bruins fan and attended a game and a practice session with her brothers. She often came back to Weymouth to visit her mom and brother Jack where they would enjoy Chinese food and watch the Bruins game.
Family was very important to Liz. She enjoyed meeting all the nieces and nephews when each was born. She loved to call her Mom and siblings to check in with them during the week.
She always tried to be as independent as possible by making her own choices in clothing, activities, and work with the Charles River ARC. She loved the chance to get her hair and nails done and dress up in glittery clothes and jewelry.
