Elizabeth "Betty" J. Chase, passed away peacefully at home on May 9, 2025, surrounded by love after a long battle with dementia. Born on November 17, 1949, in Quincy, Betty was a proud graduate of Archbishop Williams High School and went on to earn a degree from Boston State.
Cherished Mother to Michelle (Molloy) Ball of Weymouth and Mary Molloy of Weymouth. Loving Grandmother to Jack, Maggy and Larry Ball. Sister to Mary Ellen McCourt and husband Bernard (Skip) of Hingham and the late Barbara McCusker and her late husband Kevin formerly of Weymouth, and also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Betty is predeceased in life by her parents John and Anne ( Fitzgerald) Chase of Quincy and her former husband the late Francis W. Molloy.
For many years, Betty dedicated her career as an administrative assistant in the rheumatology department at Beth Israel Boston. Her love for her work was evident to all; she took great pride in her contributions, which included assisting with the writing of numerous grants.
Betty's warm spirit extended beyond her professional life. She was a loving and nurturing person, whose home was always open, offering warmth and hospitality to all who visited. Families often fondly recall the unique hand-knitted blankets and sweaters she crafted with love, each piece serving as a cherished memory. Betty delighted in her time spent with family, often ensuring each member received individual attention.
Her personality shone through her many interests and hobbies. Betty was a proud member of the "Naughty Knitters" club at the Weymouth Senior Center and found joy in knitting. She also loved to celebrate community events, enjoying parades and fireworks displays, especially on First Night in Boston and the Fourth of July at the Esplanade. Betty enjoyed driving, often embracing the adventure of getting lost on back roads to avoid traffic.
Betty's greatest pride came from her family, especially her grandchildren. She relished attending their school and sporting events, cheering them on with her signature big laugh and engaging storytelling. Betty was known for her chatty disposition and a caring nature, always wanting to lend a helping hand.
