IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Elizabeth Shirley
Fisher
October 24, 1954 – February 14, 2026
Elizabeth Shirley Fisher, lovingly known as Betty, passed away at the age of 71 after a courageous 10-year battle with metastatic breast cancer. Born on October 24, 1954, in Lewiston, Maine, she later made her home in Holbrook, Massachusetts, and was formerly of Weymouth, Massachusetts.
Betty was the beloved wife of Wayne A. Fisher and a devoted mother to her sons, Eric Fisher and Craig Fisher, and a loving mother-in-law to Carly Fisher. She was a proud and adoring grandmother to Daxton Fisher and Mairin Fisher, who were the joy of her life.
She is survived by her husband, sons, grandchildren, her biological father Roger Jewett; her sister Debbi Benjamin and her sons Morgan Benjamin and John Gillis; and her brother Patrick Benedetti and his wife Inez Nomidis.
Betty was preceded in death by her mother Christine Benedetti; her stepdaughter Jessica Fortes; her adopted father Warren Chase; her stepfather Raymond Benedetti; and her brother David Chase.
Professionally, Betty was an exceptional accountant for many years, respected for her integrity, precision, and dedication. She served both private aggregate industries and non-profit Montessori schools, work she took pride in because it supported both people and purpose. She was also deeply committed to social justice and served for many years as Human Rights Chairperson for Growthways, advocating with clarity, fairness, and compassion.
Betty was witty, truthful, honest, and straightforward, with a generous heart and a sharp sense of humor. She loved deeply and gave freely of herself. An avid traveler, she explored the world with curiosity and joy. At home, one of her greatest pleasures was cooking for family and friends, making sure everyone was well fed, comfortable, and welcome. She also found peace and creativity in knitting and painting, hobbies that reflected her thoughtful and expressive nature.
Throughout a decade-long fight with illness, Betty faced her challenges with remarkable strength, resilience, and honesty, continuing to show up for those she loved and the causes she believed in.
Betty leaves behind a legacy of love, candor, generosity, and courage. She will be profoundly missed and forever remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday, February 20, 2026, from 10-12 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).
Betty's funeral service and interment will be held privately.
