Dear aunt of many nieces, nephews.

Ellen was the fierce matriarch of a big, loving family — the center of it all. Her family was her greatest joy, but nothing made her heart happier than being with her husband, her best friend, and the man she grew up with. The two of them could talk for hours, reminiscing about how they met, how and where he proposed, and all their mischief running around the streets of Southie with family and friends. They loved remembering the good old days at “the lake” with their kids and extended family — summers filled with laughter, inside jokes, and stories that became family legends. Ellen made sure her love of lake life was passed down through carefully planned family trips “up North,” creating new generations of memories and traditions that still bring her family together today.

She was also a die-hard New England sports fan — the kind who didn’t care who heard her “cheering”. Her neighbors could always tell when the Bruins scored, the Pats won, or the Sox pulled off a comeback. Those moments lit her up just as much as any holiday or family gathering.

In her later years, when traveling became harder, Ellen found joy in living through the adventures of her family. She’d listen to every story, study every photo, with her eyes shining with pride. Even when she couldn’t go with them, she was always part of the journey.

Ellen’s life was one of deep love, fierce loyalty, and unforgettable laughter. She poured her heart into her family and left them with the kind of memories that last forever — the sound of her laugh, her cheer echoing during a big game, and the warmth of knowing she loved them with everything she had.

There is a hole in our hearts that seems impossible to fill, but we are at peace knowing she is in the joyful presence of her Savior.
