Disano, Enrico “Henry” of Hingham, born in Gioiosa Ionica, Italy, died September 20, 2016.
Henry came to America in 1957 and married his beloved wife in 1960. He was most proud of his craftsmanship as a shoemaker and owned and operated Henry’s Shoe Repair originally in Hull and then in Hingham for over 50 years. He also enjoyed taking care of his yard in Hingham, which he painstakingly turned into an Italian Villa with many terraced stone walls, fruit trees, grape arbors, and multiple gardens. Henry loved life and was a very positive and generous man. He followed the “Golden Rule” and was very wise and with a great sense of humor. He was very social and known as “Uncle Henry” to even those not related to him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Beloved husband of 54 years to the late Anita Disano. Loving father of Anna Maria Maude and her husband Michael, and Henry Disano; all of Hingham. Devoted Nonno of Sam, Ben, Jack, Mia, and Nic. Predeceased by siblings Josephine Amontea, Rose Loccisano, Mary Irilli, and Saverio, Domenic, and Frank Oppedisano. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday 3-7 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Monday prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Paul’s Church, Hingham at 10 AM. Burial in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Hingham. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Henry may be made to Pat Roche Hospice Home, 86 Turkey Hill Lane, Hingham, MA 02043 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
