Erin M. (Whitaker) Heffernan

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Erin Heffernan, who passed away at South Shore Hospital on June 16, 2026, after a courageous six-year battle with cancer. She was 61 years old.

Erin was raised in Wollaston and was the youngest of three daughters born to Helen and Leroy Whitaker. The friendships Erin formed while growing up were among the relationships she treasured most throughout her life.

Before starting a family, Erin worked as an Assistant Manager at Boston Financial. She later devoted herself to what she considered her most important role; being a loving wife and mother. Together, Erin and her husband, Pat, built a life centered around family, friendship, and creating lasting memories.

Erin was a devoted mother to her sons, Michael and Daniel. Whether it meant helping with homework, working on school projects, early mornings at the hockey rink, long days at baseball fields, weekends at motocross events, or simply being there when they needed her, she was always there. Her boys never had to wonder if Mom would show up; she always did. She was their biggest fan, strongest supporter, and a constant source of love and encouragement.

A passionate Boston Bruins fan, Erin loved cheering on her team. She also loved dancing and listening to live music, bringing her infectious energy, laughter, and warm smile wherever she went.

Some of Erin's happiest memories were made spending summers on the boat exploring Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, and the surrounding islands with family and close friends. She loved the beauty and tranquility of World's End in Hingham and enjoyed camping trips that brought together family and friends. Whether on the beach, around a campfire, listening to music, or simply surrounded by those she loved, Erin found joy in being together.

Those who knew Erin will remember her as caring, generous, funny, strong, and fiercely loyal. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel welcome, valued, and loved. Even during her long battle with cancer, she faced life's challenges with courage, grace, resilience, and an unwavering love for those around her.

Erin leaves behind her beloved husband, Pat; her devoted sons, Michael and Daniel; her sisters, Joan and Nancy; numerous nieces and nephews; extended family members; and many lifelong friends who will miss her dearly.

She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Leroy Whitaker.

Though Erin's battle with cancer has ended, her spirit lives on in the countless memories she created and in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

May she rest in peace.
