Ernest Charles Bouchie, Jr. (affectionately known as "Butch") of Halifax, formerly of Hingham, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2025. He was 83.
He was born in Brockton to Dorothy (Marks) and Ernest Bouchie, Sr. and raised in Hingham. After high school, he enlisted in the Army and served for 3 years before being honorably discharged. Butch worked for the town of Hingham Water Company and was a distinguished member of the Union representing its' employees for many years before retiring.
Butch spent a lot of his free time at Wompatuck State Park. It was close to his childhood home, and he found peace bird watching and fishing there. He loved animals, both wild and domesticated. He was an avid motorcycle rider and would take trips to Laconia, NH annually with his friends. Butch was generous with his time and would volunteer by driving individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities to and from their homes and day programs.
Butch leaves behind a legacy of wisdom, love, and laughter that will continue to resonate with all who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the countless memories he leaves behind.
Loving father to Jeannie Anderson of FL, Cheryl Gray and her husband Bob of Hingham, Melissa Bouchie and her partner Elee Pierce, Jr. of Rockland, and Christopher Bouchie and his wife Braelynn of Tolland, CT. Adoring grandfather to 10 and great-grandfather to 8. Loving brother to Jean Hagerty, the late Walter Bouchie, Marie Hoover, and James Bouchie. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and his companion, Marie O'Brien of Halifax.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday 6/13/2025 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Butch may be made to Shriners Children's Hospital, 51 Blossom Street, Boston, MA, 02114.
