Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Flavia “Fay” M. Dell’Arciprete (Ferrante) a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026 at the age of 96 with the love of her family surrounding her. Fay was the beloved daughter of the late Leonardo and Gemma Ferrante, born in Brockton in a tight knit and loving family, later moving to Cambridge where she made life long friendships, attending Cambridge High and Latin and Burdett College.

Fay married the love of her life, late Anthony “Tony” Dell’Arciprete in 1951, and settled in Waltham where together they had eight children. In 1969, they moved to their ‘dream home’ on Beach Ave in Hull, where Fay spent her days taking care of her family; cooking, cleaning, and hosting many get togethers and parties, all with ‘a view of the ocean from every window!’ A favorite past time would be making her famous baked stuffed clams for her family and friends to enjoy after Tony and the kids would collect the clams on the beach. Fay would often be found in the kitchen making many of her other famous dishes from scratch including her “Grammy’s Granola”.

Neighbors often referred to Fay and Tony as the “honeymooners” as they would be seen walking hand in hand during their evening walks on the beach. Fay loved music and ballroom dancing, and as the kids grew older, she and Tony would enjoy a Saturday night out together with friends for this shared passion that brought them both so much joy.

After Tony’s passing in 1980, Fay’s life was turned upside down. Her family, friendships and strong faith helped get her through these dark days. One very good friend would leave bags of paperback books for Fay which provided a much needed diversion, and this is when her love of reading and visiting libraries began. Her selections included everything from novels, biographies, to health and nutrition. Fay became a tremendous advocate for eating well, and reading food labels became a staple in her life that she shared with all those who would listen. Fays words of wisdom became her “Fay-isms”. These memorable phrases were also included in the thousands of letters and cards that she wrote over her many years to loved ones.

Fay’s beauty, style and charm led her to working for the Loretta Davis Promotional Agency and she became one of their top sellers. Her welcoming smile and sincerity gave her the gift to connect with others, and department store shoppers bought whatever she was selling, whether it was perfume or chocolates.

Over the years, Fay spent time traveling with close friends and family; she especially loved visiting her children across the county or having them come to visit her. Fay eventually moved to Braintree and spent her time volunteering at the South Shore Hospital. Going to the gym and church were also part of her daily routine up until her 90th birthday. In her remaining six years, Fay resided in Pembroke where she was lovingly cared for, and her life evolved around her growing family. She was filled with tremendous joy whenever her family would gather together for a special occasions, especially at the birth of a new grandchild or great grandchild. To Fay, family was everything and holding a new baby was the greatest gift.

Keeping Fay’s memory dear in our hearts are her children, Dianne (OR), Denise (PA- late husband LeRoy “Mac”), Debbie and husband Jay (MA), Daniel and wife Janice (FL), Donna (CA- former and late husband Steve), Dina and husband Kurt (CT). She leaves behind 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Fay is also survived by her brother James and sister in law Jennifer (NH).

Fay is predeceased by her cherished children, son David and daughter Darlene (surviving husband Roger), along with eldest brother Philip and his wife Marjorie, who was like a sister to Fay. She took peace in knowing her loved ones are waiting at Heaven’s gate to welcome her with open arms, and to reunite with Tony to dance for all eternity.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the Celebration of Life visitation at 10am on Tuesday March 24, 2026 at St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, 208 Samoset Ave, Hull, MA 02045. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11am immediately following the visitation. Burial to directly follow at Hull Village Cemetery. To honor Fay’s memory, wearing something white and sneakers are welcome!
