Frances Jean Christino
March 12, 1951 – January 29, 2026
Frances Jean (Coviello) Christino was a loving mother, beloved Noni, and trusted friend. Her life was defined by love, kindness, and quiet strength. She courageously battled lymphoma with grace and a smile on her face, and she passed away peacefully at the age of 74 on January 29, 2026, after being able to spend treasured time with her loved ones in the preceding weeks.
Frances "Fran" was born in Waterbury, CT on March 12, 1951, spent her childhood in Wolcott, CT, and was a devoted daughter to Esther (Sullivan) Coviello (Osprey, FL) and Domenic Coviello (deceased). She was the oldest of five siblings – Suzanne (Coviello) Lanzone (Jensen Beach, FL), Nancy Coviello (Jamestown, RI), James Coviello (Woodbury, CT), and William Coviello (Osprey, FL). She thrived in her big sister role and was an adored caretaker to her younger siblings, fashion icon, and warm and compassionate role model – qualities that would guide her throughout her life. She formed lifelong friendships at both Wolcott High School and Marymount College that she cherished always. As a dedicated schoolteacher – early on teaching home economics and child development at Weymouth High School in Massachusetts and later in life at Hingham Nursery School and South Shore Conservatory School - she touched countless lives with her patience, wisdom, kindness, and belief in each child as special.
Fran spent most of her life on the South Shore of Massachusetts, where she fulfilled her life’s purpose of raising a beautiful family. She is survived by her four children, Melissa Christino (Boston, MA), James Christino (Reading, MA), Joseph Christino (South Boston, MA), and Elisabeth Christino Stoll (Hingham, MA). As a mother, she created a loving and supportive home full of traditions, special moments, birthday celebrations, and at times, matching outfits. She was thrilled with the expansion of her family over the years, welcoming Erin (Lunn) Christino (wife of James), Kelly (Burke) Christino (wife of Joseph), and Justin Stoll (husband of Elisabeth) with open arms. For her six grandchildren – Wesley (13), Ryan (13), William (13), Alyssa (9), Carolyn (6), and Domenic (4) – there was no one more beloved than their Noni. Her warm and loving nature created special bonds and lasting memories with each of them, and her family will continue to carry her memory and legacy forward.
Friendship was also a central component of Fran’s life, and she was blessed with enduring connections built on laughter, loyalty, and fun. She was a trusted confidant—steady, thoughtful, and always there when it mattered most. And her friends, or “buoys” as she called them, equally supported and bolstered her through every season of life – a true testament to the profound impact she had on those around her and how much she truly meant to them.
Fran’s spirit found peace and joy at the beach, drawn to the ocean she loved so deeply. She has always been a mermaid at heart. The sound of the waves, the salt air, and the endless horizon reflected her calm spirit and enduring grace. Though she will be forever missed, her love lives on in her family, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She remains part of us always, carried forward in memories, values, and the love she so freely gave.
Friends and family are invited to honor Fran’s beautiful life with visiting hours on Thursday, February 12, from 4-7pm at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald Street, Hingham, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 13 at 10am at the Resurrection Church, 1057 Main Street, Hingham, MA.
