Frances R. (Avena) Tuttle, 97, of Quincy, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles (“Buddy”) W. Tuttle, and the daughter of the late Mary (Rosati) Avena of South Boston. She was the eldest of six siblings, and was predeceased by John Avena, Jean Franzoni, Lorraine Marsh, and Sally Cornett, and is survived by Robert Avena.
Frances was the beloved mother to Charles F. Tuttle and his late wife Judy, of Dorchester, Paula Rooney, and her late husband Paul of Wareham, Marcia Mahan and her partner, Bob Loguidice of Newmarket, NH, and Lee Tuttle and his wife Dorothea of Wilmington. She was a treasured grandmother “Nona” to Cara, Charles, Alison, Daniel, Michael, Brian, Andrea, and Lauren, and great-grandmother to Elsa, Cassio, Emeline, Henry, Caleb, Olivia, Eli, Avery, Austin, Brodie, Chase, Lila, and Evelyn.
Fran was born in South Boston, where she lived for many years, before moving to Dorchester. Later in life, she and Buddy resided in Quincy. She worked for many years in the healthcare system, including St. Margaret’s Hospital in Dorchester, and the Laboure Center in South Boston. Fran was a passionate singer, and sang professionally, from her childhood days on the radio to local venues throughout her adult years and into her nineties.
Fran cherished her family, and hosted decades of Sunday dinners, spending as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her love for her family was boundless.
Visiting hours are from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday December 29, 2024, at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street in Quincy, Ma. A funeral service will be held at the same location at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 30, with a burial at Cedar Grove Cemetery to follow.
