Francine Mary Cappella, 84, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born to Frank Riley and Mildred (Callahan) Riley, she was a graduate of Hingham High School. Francine leaves behind a legacy of generosity, service, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.
Affectionately known as “Bean” to those who loved her most, Francine is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Paul; her daughter, Kathy Longo of Hull; her son, Jimmy Cappella of Hull; and her daughter, Andrea Kingston and her husband, Craig, of Abington. She is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Sullivan and Kathy Bryanton. Francine was the proud and devoted Nana to seven grandchildren, who were the greatest pride of her life. She also leaves behind countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
Francine was a dedicated professional whose career reflected her lifelong commitment to helping others. She began as a special education teacher aide at Foster School before becoming a loan officer at Hingham Institution for Savings. She later served as Office Manager at Riley Construction for 17 years. After retirement she worked at South Shore Country Club pro shop.
An avid golfer and passionate volunteer, Francine founded the South Shore Country Club Women’s Golf Association and remained actively involved in many organizations throughout her life, including the Sons of Italy in Hingham, the Wessagussett Yacht Club, and the Moose Lodge. She was also a devoted member of the Hingham Ladies Club, proudly serving as its president from 2013 to 2014. In retirement, she continued giving back as a board member of Cinnamon Cove Single Family 1 in Fort Myers, Florida, generously sharing her time, talents, and leadership.
More than any title or accomplishment, Francine will be remembered for her warm and welcoming home, her love of games and friendly competition, her generous heart, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and friends. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and in the family she cherished above all else.
Francine was predeceased by her beloved son, Paul Cappella Jr.; her sisters, Terry Moynihan and Celia Komich; and her brothers, Peter Riley and John Riley.
The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to Barbara Rae of Abington for the extraordinary love, care, compassion, and devotion she gave Francine. Her kindness and friendship brought comfort not only to Francine but to the entire family.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 7/1/2026 from 4-8 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM.A celebartion of life service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday morning July 2, 2026 at 9:15 followed by her Funeral Mass on Thursday JUly 2, 2026 at 10am at St Paul’s Church in Hingham. Burial will be private.
