Francis J. “Frank” McLaughlin, of Squantum, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on March 11, 2026, after facing cancer with strength, courage, and determination. He was 69.

Born on February 13, 1957, Frank was the beloved son of the late Francis H. McLaughlin and Marion M. (MacDonald) McLaughlin. He spent his early childhood in Dorchester surrounded by a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins before moving to Squantum, where he grew up and formed many lifelong friendships.

Frank went on to pursue his education in the field that would shape his professional life, receiving his undergraduate degree in accounting from Bentley University and later earning his master’s in business administration from Suffolk University. A lover of spreadsheets, tax returns, and the intricacies of finance, Frank took great pride in his work. Most recently, he worked at A.W. Perry, Inc., a position he often said was the best job—with the best boss—he ever had. Bringing order to numbers brought him genuine satisfaction, and he took pride in helping people and things run smoothly.

Frank’s social nature was a defining part of his personality. He had a natural ability to light up any room, and his quick wit and sense of humor brought joy to all. His interests were wide-ranging, from earning a sixth-degree black belt—an esteemed senior master rank—in karate, to gardening and spending time connecting with friends “at the post,” where he could often be found on Friday afternoons. Time with family and friends meant the most to Frank, whether socializing, vacationing, watching sports, or celebrating holidays and life’s milestones.

He is survived by many loving cousins in both Canada and the United States; his devoted friends, Mark and Joanie Hastings; and Arthur “Butch” McIver and his wife, Colleen, of Squantum. He is also survived by his loving godchildren with whom he maintained close relationships, along with extended family members and many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to the visiting hours on Monday, March 23, 2026, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock Street, QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the funeral home at 9:45 AM on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, prior to the Funeral Mass at Saint Ann Church, 757 Hancock St., Quincy, at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery.

The family and close friends wish to extend their heartfelt thanks to Frank’s oncologist, Dr. Mark Anderson of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the dedicated nursing staff there and at South Shore Hospital for their compassionate care. They are also deeply grateful to the CROI Health (formerly Norwell VNA) team and the wonderful staff at the Pat Roche Hospice Home for their exceptional support and kindness.

Special thanks are extended to Frank’s friends and neighbors in Squantum for their many visits, home-cooked meals, protein-packed smoothies, help with collecting the mail and clearing snow, rides to medical visits, Dunkin’ runs, and for the watchful care of a neighbor who is a nurse and kept a close eye on him. Their kindness and genuine concern meant so much to him and his family.
