Morrison, Frank R., Jr. of Westwood, formerly of the Squantum neighborhood in Quincy, died peacefully on April 6, 2026.

Born in East Boston and raised in Squantum, he carried with him a lifelong love of the ocean, nature, and craftsmanship. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, dedicating four years of service marked by humility and resilience. He was the proud recipient of the National Defense Service Award.

He later built a life rooted in hard work and creativity, holding roles at the General Dynamic Shipyard and Purity Supreme Supermarket before establishing himself in painting and remodeling with Morrison Painting.

A lifelong learner, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Community and Social Services from UMass, reflecting his deep commitment to helping others.

At his core, he was a self-taught and highly skilled craftsman. He found beauty in precision and patience by tying intricate nautical knots, carving wood, building and refinishing furniture, and creating handmade items including quilts, sleeping bags, backpacks, pocketbooks, and hats. His hands were rarely still, and his creations brought warmth, comfort and beauty to many.

An avid outdoorsman, he found joy in camping in any season, rock and ice climbing, canoeing and kayaking, As a devoted member of the Appalachian Mountain Club, he volunteered his time maintaining and repairing trails, always striving to leave the world better than he found it.

His kindness extended far beyond his immediate circle. He created care packages for fellow veterans and crafted subzero sleeping bags for those experiencing homelessness, with careful thought using repurposed neckties for ease of transport from place to place. He also sewed fleece pullovers and other essentials, quietly helping those in need with dignity and respect.

A voracious reader and a man of thoughtful reflection, he lived a life guided by empathy, humility, and purpose.

Above all, he was a loving father whose presence was a constant source of comfort and guidance. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, and the love he gave so freely.

Beloved husband of Kathleen Malley-Morrison of Westwood. Former husband of Catherine (Horan) Morrison of Quincy. Loving father of KellyAnn Morrison of Squantum and Michael Morrison of Norwood. Devoted son of the late Frank R. Morrison, Sr. and Edith (Cody) Morrison. Cherished grandfather of Michael Morrison, Jr. of Squantum.
