Franny T. Mahoney, of Quincy, died peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Royal Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Braintree. She was 89.

Franny was born in Boston on December 10, 1936, and was one of four children to the late Timothy and Bridgette (Connolly) Mahoney. She was raised and attended school in South Boston.

Franny was a woman of quiet strength, sharp wit, and unwavering devotion to her family. A lifelong hard worker, she dedicated many years to Boston City Hospital, where she worked in the accounts payable department until she retired at the age of 50.

Franny was incredibly generous and loving, especially when it came to her nieces and nephews. She helped raise them, care for them, and guided them, not only through childhood, but well into adulthood. She was a steady, daily presence in their lives, arriving at their homes like clockwork and spending three hours with them each day. She thrived on routine, particularly when it involved her family, who were the center of her world. Her immediate family was her network, her comfort, and her chosen circle. She kept it small, but she loved them fiercely.

Franny had a brilliant and curious mind. She followed politics closely and always had thoughtful insights to share. An avid listener of The Howie Carr Show and WBZ Radio, she kept herself informed and engaged with the world around her.

Franny leaves behind a family who adored her, who understood her humor, and who will forever cherish the routines, the laughter, and the deep love she gave so freely. She will be profoundly missed by all the lives she touched.

Franny was the devoted aunt to her sister Mary’s children, Ray Rochon and his wife Kim, Suzanne Glynn and her husband Jim, Dave Rochon and his wife Amy, and the late Steven Rochon. Franny was also the loving aunt of her sister Margie’s children, John Skehan, Gregory Skehan and his wife Sherry, Richard Skehan, Mary Skehan, and Charles Skehan. Franny leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who were truly dear to her. She now joins those who went before her, including her siblings Marguerite “Margie” Skehan and her husband John, Mary Rochon, and Joseph Mahoney.
