Newton, Frederick, Sr. “Fred” of South Wellfleet, died November 11, 2014.
Born in Boston on December 15, 1938, the second son of the late Joseph and Mary (Downey) Newton. Fred was raised in the Wollaston section of Quincy and graduated from Arch Bishop Williams H.S. in 1956. He was in ROTC while at Northeastern University where he earned his degree in Marketing. Fred proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in Vietnam. He worked nearly 30 years for the Mass State Lottery where he made many lasting friendships. He was previously employed by Gortons Seafood and Salada Tea.
Beloved husband of Joyce (Murphy) Newton of South Wellfleet of 50 years. Loving father of Fred Newton Jr. and his wife Paula of Gloucester, Ken Newton and his wife Vickie of Danvers and Elise Sullivan and her husband Pat of Marshfield. Devoted Grampy of Matty, Danny, Kelsey, Jack, Kendall, Garrett, Ava, Kate and Liam. Brother of Joseph Newton Jr. and his Judy of Quincy and Greg Newton and his wife JoAnne of Braintree.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 8:15 AM on Saturday prior to the Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Quincy at 9 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
