Gabriel Louis Manchon

Gabriel Louis Manchon, of Malden, died peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025, following a long illness at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 75.

Gabriel was born on April 30, 1950, in Aubagne, France, and raised in Marseille, where he spent his childhood surrounded by the vibrant culture and beauty of the South of France. At the age of fifteen, the family immigrated first to Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada for a brief stay before settling permanently in South Boston, MA in 1969. Gabriel, along with his parents and four younger siblings embodied the courage, resilience hard work, and sacrifice that mark so many immigrant stories, in pursuit of a better life for themselves and their future generations.

Gabriel was known for his hard work, gentleness, and kind heart. He loved to share laughs, incredible French and Italian food, and good company with family and friends. He was a dedicated “blue-collar” worker, spending many of those years working at Boston’s Logan Airport, and proudly finishing his career a member of Local 809 for MassPort. Though the work could be long and hard, he never complained and found joy knowing he was providing for his family.

He loved escaping to North Conway, where he found peace in the beautiful landscape of the White Mountains, relaxing and whittling branches by Echo Lake. If he wasn’t at work, he spent all of his time with his boys watching them play at Farragut Park and taking them fishing at Castle Island. He also loved playing cards, especially poker, with friends and family. There wasn’t an action movie he didn’t love, always measuring the quality of those films by the level of action they contained.

Gabriel was the devoted father of Gabriel Manchon and his wife Stephanie of Braintree, and Daniel Manchon and his fiancée Ricci Rowan of Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the loving Pepe of Addie and Ollie Manchon, both of Braintree. Gabriel was the dear brother of Annie Flaherty and her husband Sean of Wichita Falls, Texas, Yves Manchon and his wife Joanne also of Wichita Falls, Texas, the late Christian Manchon and his surviving wife Theresa of South Boston, and the late Martine Manchon of South Boston. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family and friends.
