Geary C. Siroonian passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at his residence in Farmington, CT, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Weymouth, MA, on April 30, 1955, son of the late Leon and Grace Siroonian of Weymouth, MA, and was the son-in-law of the late Anthony P. Martin and the late Sue L. Martin of Worcester, MA. He lived in Farmington for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his loving children, Nicole L. Andreotta and her husband Ben of Manchester, CT, Christopher A. Siroonian of Winsted, CT, and Deanna K. Joseph and her husband Brian of Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was the deeply proud grandfather of his beloved grandson, Theo M. Joseph, whom he cherished and who brought him immeasurable joy. He is also survived by his devoted and steadfastly supportive brother, Ken Siroonian of Rockland, MA, who was a constant source of strength and encouragement throughout his life. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ken and Verjik Martin of Bolton, MA; his loving sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Andrea and Michael Harmon of Atlantic Highlands, NJ; his first cousin, Andrea Taverna and her husband Rick of Norwell, MA; his nieces and nephews, Craig Martin and Travis, Jeb, and Kelly Harmon; along with many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Geary was predeceased by his beloved wife of 29 years, Paula M. (Martin) Siroonian. Their story began when Geary, at the age of 17, met Paula while they were traveling on an airplane from Boston to California for the 1972 AYF Summer Olympics. What began as a chance meeting grew into a lifelong relationship, and after eight years of dating, they were married on June 8, 1980. Together they built a lifetime of love, friendship, adventure, and devotion to family. They raised three children and created a home where family, friends, and neighbors were always welcomed. Though Paula’s passing left a tremendous void, Geary carried her memory with him every day and found his greatest happiness in the family they built together.
As a devoted father and grandfather, Geary was known for his hospitality and generous spirit, often serving great wines and making all who entered his home feel welcome. He had a natural ability to fix almost anything placed before him and was often the first person family, friends, and neighbors called when something went wrong. Whether it was a repair, a project, or an unexpected problem, people knew they could count on him to show up and help. His warmth and good sense of humor made others comfortable in his presence. Time spent with family and friends, sharing stories, solving problems, and helping others brought him great joy. Whether family, friend, or stranger, he treated everyone with kindness and respect and formed lasting relationships wherever life took him.
Geary grew up in Weymouth, MA, and was a proud graduate of Weymouth High School, Class of 1973. He carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and perseverance throughout his life and remained closely connected to the community that helped shape him. He later graduated from Lowell University, an accomplishment of which he was proud.
Geary took great pride in his career with General Electric, where he was respected for his dedication and strong work ethic. His career took him and Paula to many parts of the country, including Rhode Island, Indiana, Georgia, New Jersey, and Connecticut, experiences he valued greatly and often shared stories about with family and friends. They embraced those adventures together, building lifelong friendships and memories along the way. Geary often reflected on those years with pride and remained grateful for the opportunities and experiences his career provided.
Outside of work, one of Geary’s greatest passions was building things. He was a natural creator who enjoyed designing, planning, and bringing ideas to life. Over the years, he built several homes across multiple states, including three in Farmington, Connecticut, each reflecting his vision, skill, and attention to detail. He took great pride in creating homes that met the changing needs of his family and found deep satisfaction in seeing a project through from start to finish. Few things brought him greater enjoyment than stepping back from a completed project and knowing it had been done well.
Geary lived with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) for many years and faced its challenges with remarkable strength and determination. He was also a devoted caregiver to his beloved wife, Paula, throughout her own battle with MS, demonstrating the resilience, compassion, and selflessness that defined his life. In Geary’s later years, he found support from family, friends, and caregivers who helped him navigate the challenges of MS and maintain the best possible quality of life.
He was a member of St. Stephen’s Armenian Apostolic Church in New Britain, CT, and shared a deep appreciation for his Armenian heritage and the traditions that were an important part of his and Paula’s lives.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to all those who offered friendship, support, and kindness throughout Geary’s life and made it a richer one.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Geary’s memory to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at the following link:
