George Carroll Enos II, of Slatersville, Rhode Island, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. He was 75.

George was born in Norfolk, Virginia on January 8, 1951, and was the son of the late Montford Morrisette and Ivy (McGuiggan) Enos. George grew up in the Ballentine Place area of Norfolk before moving to Granby Park. He graduated from Granby High School in 1969. After graduating high school, he attended Slippery Rock University.

In both high school and college, George excelled as an athlete. He finished second place in the 1969 Virginia 4A wrestling state championship tournament. He also finished as an All-American wrestler during his freshman year at Slippery Rock. After his wrestling career, George became an avid marathon runner. In all, he completed five marathons.

George didn’t only thrive in athletics; he showed a love for learning as well. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Slippery Rock University 1973, a Master of Science in Biochemistry from Old Dominion University in 1976, a Master of Business Administration from The University of Richmond in 1980, and a Certificate of Advanced Study in Biochemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1983.

He then entered the chemical engineering field where he spent most of his career. Specifically, he worked for a long time as a project manager helping to design bio-chemical and pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities. He thoroughly enjoyed his work, as it always presented new problems for solving.

George’s love of wrestling stayed with him throughout his life. He coached at the collegiate and high school levels after his career ended. He was a graduate assistant coach at Old Dominion University, and he coached at high schools across Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

George was a charming man who loved deeply. He had a distinctive sense of humor and enjoyed joking with loved ones. He was extremely intelligent, always stayed informed about current events, and would let anyone know what was on his mind.

When he wasn't coaching or spending time with the people he loved, George was usually playing with his pet dogs. George never met a dog he didn't love. He also enjoyed tinkering on projects around the house. He was happiest with his hands busy, out in the garage working on his motorcycles, or in the middle of whatever project had caught his attention that week. A lover of music and literature, he was rarely without something to listen to or read, whether that was an audiobook, a good book, or music playing in the background.

Above all, George loved his family. George was the beloved partner of Erin Hester of Slatersville, Rhode Island. He was the devoted father of Michael Enos and his wife Margaret of Chicago, Rachel Andrews and her husband Phil of Waltham, Sarah Enos of Waltham, and Jeffrey Enos and his wife Paige Zacharakis of Dedham.

George was the loving grandfather of Steven and Martin Enos, both of Chicago, and Grant Enos of Dedham. He was the dear brother of William “Bill” Enos and his wife Nancy of St. Augustine, Florida, and is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Following cremation, George's graveside burial service will be held on Friday, September 25 at 3:00 PM in Union Cemetery, North Smithfield, RI. The cemetery is located at 151 Smithfield Rd, North Smithfield, RI. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

Those unable to attend the burial ceremony are welcome to join George’s family at the Enos residence at 42 Bingham Ave in Dedham, MA. The family will welcome visitors from 5:30-8:00 PM.
