Mitchell, George H. of Quincy December 29, 2006. Beloved husband of 50 years to the late Claire (Norman). Loving father of George H. Mitchell, Jr. & his wife Kathy of Harwich, Bob Mitchell & his wife Terry, Melinda & her husband Dana Smith, & Bill Mitchell all of Quincy. Brother of Albert Mitchell of Braintree and the late Mary West. Cherished grandfather of Adrienne, Kyle, & Scott Mitchell, Kelly Myers, Jeniffer, Christopher, Robert & Daniel Mitchell. Great-grandfather of Jillian Mitchell. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the funeral from the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., WOLLASTON, Wednesday at 9 AM. Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, N. Quincy at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours Tuesday 3- 7 PM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy. George was born in Dorchester and grew up in Quincy. He was a member of North Quincy High School’s first graduating class. He served in the Army. Mr. Mitchell was a manager for Equitable Insurance Company for 40 years and was also later employed by United Way and Capital Analyst, retiring only 7 years ago. Mr. Mitchell attained his Certified Life Underwriter in the insurance industry. George was also involved in politics running for school committee and ward 6 city councilor in 1972. He enjoyed walking in the Blue Hills, gardening, animals, bargain shopping, and was an avid sports fan. Mr. Mitchell’s family describes him as a loving and dedicated family man.
