Bambrick, Gerard of Haverhill, died December 30, 2016.
Gerard was born in Boston, raised in Somerville and was a graduate of Somerville High School. After joining the work force for a short period of time he joined the Marine Corp where he served as a very proud Marine, at one point being named “Marine of the Month”. He served in embassy duty all over the world. From Africa to Hawaii from Switzerland to the Philippines. He was a devout Catholic and for a period of time dedicated his life to the Benedictine Monastery at St Anselm’s Abbey in Washington DC. He selflessly sponsored many orphans through the Christian Charities. He did this with humility and without fanfare. The letters and photos he received from these children from all over the world brought him great joy. He deeply appreciated the arts, not just of his culture but of all cultures. He was fluent in French spoke Arabic and German. He was an avid history buff and chess player. His devotion to his beloved Alaskan Husky was fierce and loyal. Just his name “Happy” reflected the joy brought to him by his faithful companion of 13 years. All that met him found him to be “a great guy, with a great smile.” He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and loved him.
Beloved son of Rosemary (Manning) Bambrick and the late Henry Bambrick. Loving brother of Theresa Taverna and her husband Anthony of Braintree, Barbara Bambrick of Seattle, WA, Dianne Bambrick of Derry, NH, Hank Bambrick of Lowell, Stacey Johnston and her husband Ed of Quincy and predeceased by siblings Donna, David and Scott. Gerard adored his many nieces and nephews and even great nieces and nephews.
