Gerri McCready

Gerri (LaCount) McCready, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 6, 2024, surrounded by her three daughters. 

Born on March 13, 1935 in Cambridge, MA to Frances (Palkens) LaCount, Gerri was known for her warmth, quick wit, enviable style, and unconditional love for her family.

Gerri was the cherished mother to Kathleen Jennings, Kerri Nagle and Kristen Bishop, beloved grandmother to Meaghan, Emily and Alanna Jennings, Aidan, Fiona and Declan Nagle, and Elise, Iain and Niall Bishop, and proud great grandmother to Phoebe Jennings Wade.

Gerri was preceded in death by the one and only love of her life, James “Jim” McCready. Together they had many lifelong friends and enjoyed card games, New Year’s Eve parties, cruises around the globe, pool parties in Quincy and summers on the Cape. 

Gerri, the matriarch of her family, led with humor, love and joy, and she will be missed lovingly and forever. 

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Dec. 12th from 11:30 -12:30 in St. Ann’s Church (757 Hancock Street, Wollaston), followed by her Funeral Celebration Mass at 1pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any charitable donations be made to Make A Wish Foundation.
