Gloria Jean Mooney (Porcaro) April 20, 2026
Gloria was born in Boston, the beloved daughter of Aniello Porcaro and Mary (Gaglione) Porcaro. Devoted wife of the late John A. Mooney. She affectionately leaves behind her cherished children John Mooney & wife Jennifer, James Mooney & wife Thanyarat Ekkabut, Alice Mooney, and Joseph Mooney & wife Kathleen. Gloria adored her precious grandchildren: Jordan Mooney and wife Jen, Grace Transue & husband Jack, Rose Mooney, John Imeson, and Arianna Mooney. She also had a special love for her two great granddaughters: Ginger and Maren, and was anticipating meeting the 3rd very soon. She was also the loving sister of Mary Duffy, Lucy Jannoni, Anthony Porcaro, Aniello (Niel) Porcaro, Jr., and Ralph Porcaro. Pre-deceased by her beautiful sisters Louise Porcaro, Anna DeMarco, Sarah Mosca, Antonette Nardone, Pauline Piselli, Rose Brandolino and her handsome brother Joseph Porcaro. Gloria was a friend to many, but she was delighted to have best friends Maureen and Nina by her side through thick and thin. She also was survived by special in-laws, nieces , nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
Gloria most recently resided at the Allerton Assisted in Hingham where she loved to play bingo and dominoes. She enjoyed time with all her new friends, including the amazing staff who provided companionship and unmeasurable assistance. Gloria's family also is very grateful to Tides Hospice for their outstanding care and support. Prior to moving to Allerton 15 months ago, Gloria proudly lived independently in Hull. She enjoyed walks on the beach, trips to the casinos, watching Catholic television, lunch dates, and car rides for her vanilla ice cream.
John and Gloria originally started their family in South Boston before moving and raising their children in Hingham. Gloria’s ultimate passion was her divine faith. She spent most of life volunteering as a Eucharistic minister, Altar Linen/Sacred Vessel Ministry, and she took pleasure in assembling rosary beads for her church. We strongly believe Gloria is now at peace in ever lasting heaven.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 4/27/2026 from 4-6 PM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9 AM on Tuesday 4/28/2026 prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Parish in St. Ann’s Church, Hull at 10 AM. Burial in MA National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:45 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Catholic Charities will be appreciated.
