Herbert L. Frager

Herbert L. Frager, affectionately known to family and friends as "Herby," passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 8, 2026, at the age of 87.

Born on May 27, 1939, to Eunice and Ulysses Frager, Herby lived a life marked by creativity, leadership, service, and generosity. From an early age, he demonstrated exceptional talent and determination, earning the New Jersey High School State Fencing Championship in the late 1950s.

After graduating from Parsons School of Design in New York City, Herby began his professional career with Bamberger's Department Store. Driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for design, he relocated with his young family to Cleveland, Ohio, in the early 1970s and founded Taboret Studios, his own advertising and design agency.

Throughout his distinguished career, Herby achieved remarkable success in the fields of advertising, marketing, and graphic design. His work included contributions to the original logo development of what would become the Seattle Seahawks franchise, and he created his own distinctive typeface known as the "Frager Punch." His talent and leadership led him to executive and creative leadership roles with prominent retailers, including Lazarus, Federated Department Stores, Macy's, and Bradlees, where he served as a Creative Director and Vice President of Marketing and Advertising. He concluded his professional career in the Town of Hingham, Massachusetts, where he was honored to support the men and women sworn to protect and serve their community.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Herby was deeply committed to his community and faith. He served as President of the Warrensville Heights School Board, sponsored and managed Little League baseball teams, and was an active member of the Masonic fraternity. A devoted supporter of the Church of God in Christ, he faithfully served as both a Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent.

Herby had a remarkable ability to connect with people. His warm smile, generous spirit, and genuine interest in others earned him countless friends, companions, and admirers throughout his life. He will be remembered not only for his achievements, but also for the kindness, encouragement, and joy he shared with those around him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Pearline Alveta Frager; his daughter, Kelly Renea McKenzie and her wife, Renee; his son, Duane Herbert Frager and his wife, Alexsandra; and his cherished grandchildren, Mahogany LaTosh, Tiphaney Shauneice, Zoe Alexsandra, Zachary Raymond, Daniel Robert and greatgrandchild TreyVon Michael. He is also survived by countless in-laws, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends whose lives were enriched by knowing him.

Herby's legacy of creativity, service, faith, and love for his family will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of those whose lives he touched.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Saturday 9/19/2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. (off Central St.), HINGHAM. Funeral service will be celebrated at 11 AM in Pyne Keohane Funeral Home following the visitation.
