DENNIS, MA – Irene Cotter (Rydell) Seiders, 94, of Dennis, MA, and formerly of Dorchester, MA, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on November 26, 1930, Irene was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Dardinski) Rydell. Irene was a devoted mother, Nana, Granny, and friend whose life was defined by kindness, joyful celebrations, and unwavering love for all who surrounded her.
Irene was predeceased by her sister Marie Newayno; her husbands, Joseph P. Cotter, Sr. and Robert G. Seiders; her son Walter D. Cotter; and her cherished grandson Brandon J. Showalter.
She leaves behind a loving legacy in her children: Joseph Cotter Jr. and his wife Irene of Middleton, John Cotter and his wife Lee of Newton, and Catherine (Cotter) Showalter and her husband Ronald of Dennis, as well as her daughter-in-law, Patricia Cotter of Marshfield. Irene was a proud Nana to 10 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 11, all of whom brought her immense happiness and pride.
Irene left a lasting impression on everyone she met with her warm, welcoming smile, spitfire personality, boundless energy, and genuine thoughtfulness. True to her spirit, one of Irene’s lifelong mottos was “Live, Love, Laugh” — and that she truly did.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 from 9 -10:30 AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte.18 opp. So. Shore Hospital).
Following the visiting hours, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Weymouth at 11 AM. Burial in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Irene’s memory to the Dennis Fire Department, 883 Main Street (Route 28), West Dennis, MA 02670.
