Jack Wilson Morse passed away peacefully on Sunday October 4 surrounded by his loving family, He was 99. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family, especially his wife, Jeanne Morse after 76 years of a love story marriage.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to Rebecca Fitzgerald and Ralph Morse, Jack grew up in Crystal, Minnesota, and attended Robbinsdale High School. He proudly served in WW2 in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines He received a Sharpshooter medal and attained the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he earned his B.A. Education degree from the University of Minnesota which led to his career as a 6th Grade teacher.

Jack later entered the insurance business, opening several successful Farmers Insurance branches. Although he enjoyed a successful and lucrative career, family always came first and a decision was made to remain local and spend more time with his family. Jack stepped away from the insurance business and joined the police department in New Hope, Minnesota. During his ten years on the force, he rose through the ranks to become Chief of Police.

While serving his community as Chief, Jack simultaneously worked on his Master’s in Public Administration and graduated from the FBI Academy. These experiences created a path for his next career move, leading him and his family to Massachusetts. He was recruited by Harvard University in Cambridge and settled in Hull, MA. As Deputy Chief and was instrumental in the conversion of the security force into an active police force. He eventually served as acting Chief before retiring.

Retirement did not slow Jack down. He and Jeanne created a beautiful antique restoration fine art furniture business that made the map. Jack also worked with FEMA and was instrumental in the efforts to serve and support many of our nations weather tragedies. He also served as President of the Church Council at Lutheran House of Prayer in Hingham. His faith and his desire to serve others remained important parts of his life.

Jack found his greatest joy in the people and simple pleasures he loved most. He cherished his time with his wife, traveling the world many times, spending time with family and his beloved dogs, and even a cat or two. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a gift for making people feel welcome.

Jack was a true citizen, a man of faith who loved his country, family and his community. He was strong and calm in difficult moments and deeply devoted to those he loved.

Beloved husband of 76 years to Jeanne E. Morse (Cossette) of Hull. Devoted father to Kevin Michael Morse of Minneapolis, MN, Sam Alan Morse and his wife Penny K. of Oak Grove, MN, Joseph Jack Morse and his wife Elizabeth of Weymouth, Kathleen Sullivan and her husband Vinnie of Hull and Ned Wilson Morse and his wife Mary of Hull. Adoring grandfather to Taylor A. Morse, Caroline J.M. Sullivan, Brendan V.P. Sullivan, Josiah J.W. Morse and Elijah G.R. Morse. Loving brother to the late Curt Morse, Margaret Lee, and Patricia Flaa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visitation from 2-4 PM on Monday, October 12th at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St., HINGHAM. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 4 PM at the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home. Burial will take place at the MA National Cemetery at 1:45 PM on Tuesday, October 13th.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s name may be made to the House of Prayer Lutheran Church, 916 Main Street, Hingham, MA 02043.
