James M. Melody 'Jim’ of Weymouth died unexpectedly on September 30, 2025.He was 64. Jim was born in Boston and grew up in Weymouth. After attending UMass Amherst, Jim made his way to New York City where he lived for many years and met his wife Cassandra before returning to his hometown.
For over 30 years Jim worked in print and radio sales and advertising at the national and local levels. He created and managed events at Radio City Music Hall, World Trade Center, Boston City Hall Plaza, and Union Point in Weymouth, among others. Jim loved giving back to his community and recently decided to dip his toe into local politics and was very excited about the prospect of representing Weymouth as a Councilor at Large.
Jim leaves behind many loved ones including his wife Cassandra (Partin) Melody and daughters Reilly and Ryan Melody. Cherished son of the late Margaret A. (Connolly) and the late Paul J. Melody Sr. Dearest brother of Maureen (Frank) Connors of Milton, Kate (Lew) Tempesta of Plymouth, Suzanne Melody-Dakin of Weymouth, Jennifer (John) Geraghty of Norwell and brother-in-law to Sandy Melody of Berkley. Predeceased by brothers Paul Jr. and Jack Melody. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and incredibly close friends.
Jim’s first priority, always, was being a dad. His family made cherished memories taking many trips, most recently to France. Among his passions, music was forefront, and he loved to perform. His guitar was with him wherever he went, bringing happiness, laughter, and sing-alongs to every party. Jim had a larger-than-life personality. He would lift people up, share a big laugh, and loved a good “debate” with whomever he met. Jim was a kind, giving, loving soul and will be greatly missed forever.
