James “Jim” M. Pratt

August 19, 1963 – June 8, 2026

James “Jim” M. Pratt, 62, of Weymouth, passed away suddenly on June 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Born and raised in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Ruth (Draksley) Taylor and William Pratt. Jim spent his entire life in the community he loved. He graduated from Weymouth North High School with the Class of 1981 and later raised his own family in his hometown.

Jim was the devoted husband of Karen (Raffa) Pratt for 39 years and a proud, loving father to his daughters, Kristy and Malissa Pratt. His greatest joy in life was being a dad to his “girls.” He cherished every moment spent with them and took immense pride in the women they became.

For 36 years, Jim worked at P&G (formerly Gillette), retiring as a Quality Control Supervisor in November 2025. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of his colleagues through his strong work ethic, leadership, and dedication. More importantly, he built lasting friendships and became a mentor and friend to many.

Jim had a gift for bringing people together. He was a true people person who never met a stranger. Whether striking up a conversation with someone new, sharing a joke, or making people laugh with his playful sense of humor, Jim had a way of making everyone feel welcome. He was talkative, thoughtful, generous, and always willing to lend a helping hand. His kindness and genuine interest in others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In his free time, Jim enjoyed watching movies, especially Star Wars and Avatar. He loved playing board games and dice games with family and friends and could often be found playing his harmonica. He especially loved holidays, with the Fourth of July holding a special place in his heart. Any occasion that brought family and friends together was one he eagerly embraced.

Jim worked hard throughout his life to provide for his family and create a home filled with love, laughter, and lasting memories. His legacy lives on through the countless lives he touched with his warmth, friendship, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those he loved.

Jim will be deeply missed by his wife, Karen, and his daughters, Kristy and Malissa; his extended family; many friends; former coworkers; and all who had the privilege of knowing him. He is survived by his sister, Nancy (Pratt) Kelley, and her husband, John; his brother, William Pratt, and his wife, Diane; sister‑in‑law Michele Raffa and her life partner, Glen Ribeiro; sister‑in‑law Donna (Raffa) Welsh; sister‑in‑law Jenny (Raffa) Lapointe and her husband, Bernie; and many aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews, all of whom will forever cherish his memory.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Sunday, June 14, 2026, from 2–6 PM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, NORTH Weymouth, 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A, Bicknell Square). A funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 10 AM at McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, NORTH Weymouth, 40 Sea Street (off Route 3A, Bicknell Square), Weymouth. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Weymouth. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to East Weymouth Congregational Church, 1320 Commercial Street, East Weymouth, MA 02189.

“A life well lived is measured not by years, but by the love shared, the laughter created, and the lives touched along the way.”
