James L. Finch, beloved husband of Rosemary (D’Amato) Finch, passed away at his Middleboro residence on Tuesday, November 6, 2018, surrounded by his cherished family. He was 72.
He was born in Quincy on May 19, 1946, a son of the late James H. Finch and Ruth (Callahan) Walenius of Weymouth who survives him.
Jim was educated in Quincy and Weymouth and graduated from Weymouth High School. He then attended Northeastern University where he studied accounting.
Jim went to work for State Street Bank which is where he met the love of his life Rosemary. They celebrated their 45th anniversary this past October. He retired a few years ago from Boston Financial in Quincy, where he worked as a pension analyst. Jim always worked part time as real estate agent and tax preparer, jobs he kept in retirement to support his golf habit.
Jim’s passion was golf. He would play at any opportunity. He was also an avid stamp collector. A hobby he tried to pass on to his children with no luck.
When his children were younger he coached them in the Middleboro Little League and also served as their treasurer. Family was everything to Jim. He loved spending time with everyone, especially his grandchildren.
Surviving him besides his wife and mother are his children and their spouses, Chris and Kristen Finch of Easton, Danielle Finch, Michael and Callie Finch all of Moore, SC; eight grandchildren, Evan, Chloe, Anthony, Nicholas, Avery, Layla, Carter, Mila; his siblings and their spouses, Kathy Hopey of Mendon, Tracey MacDonald of Marshfield, Dianne and Mark Siroonian of Duxbury, Debbie and Cush Bastoni of Plymouth, Brenda and Paul Tetreault of Brockton, Michele Beers of Hanover, Christine and Barry Randall of Wales. Jim was predeceased by his stepfather Eugene “Al” Walenius and brother Donnie Marchesiani.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday 4-8 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 AM in Immaculate Conception Church, 1203 Commercial St. Weymouth. Burial will be private.
