Cashman, Jane E. (Macdermott) of Quincy, died January 9, 2014 at the age of 78.
She was born in Quincy and has lived in Quincy for the past 40 years. She is a retired medical secretary and office manager at Milton Hospital for may years and formerly a real estate broker. Jane was a graduate of Dorchester High School for Girls and Lee Institute. After marrying she lived in Chicago and New Jersey in 1975 where she originated a local newspaper column called, “SOUNDING OFF” and wrote articles for publication. She also loved writing poetry.
Jane traveled extensively during the years of her daughter Karen’s athletic career in Track, Figure Skating and Speedskating and who later became an Olympic Bronze Medalist in Speedskating in Lillehammer, Norway.
She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Frederick J. Cashman Jr. Beloved mother of Frederick J. Cashman, III and his wife Katherine of Binghamton, NY, Ronald E. Cashman of Plymouth and Karen J. Lehmann and her husband John of Plymouth. Caring step mother of Richard Cashman of Peabody, Diane McBay and her husband Frank of Wilmington and Karl Cashman of Florida. Devoted Nana of Cameron Cashman, Olivia Cashman and Bryan Lehmann. Loving sister of Carl H. MacDermott of Bridgewater and the late Roy E. MacDermott. Also survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews.
She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, who were the loves of her life.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Monday 4-8 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 10:15 AM on Tuesday prior to the Funeral Service in Wollaston Lutheran Church, at 11 AM. Burial in Mt. Wollaston Cemetery, Quincy.
