Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Janet Farragher, 88, of Weymouth, passed away on October 25, 2026. A native of Braintree, she was the daughter of the late Leonard and Josephine (Licata) Curreri.

Janet was a graduate of Braintree High School, Class of 1956. Following high school, she attended the Henry O. Peabody School, with a certificate in hairdressing. She had a long career as a hairdresser. She worked in many salons over the years but was known for sharing her skills with her family in their kitchen and hers.

It was at Mosley’s Dance Hall in Dedham that Janet met Dennis, the love of her life. They married in September 1965 and moved to East Weymouth, where they raised their family. After 49 years in East Weymouth, Janet and Dennis began a new chapter at Fairing Way where they embraced retirement and enjoyed making new friends and becoming part of a new community.

Family was Janet’s greatest joy. She and Dennis rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on their grandchildren at sporting events, attend their activities and school functions, or celebrate their many milestones. Her devotion extended to her large, loving extended family as well. Whether it was a wedding, birthday party, Fourth of July gathering, or holiday celebrations, if Janet was invited, she was there. Every family celebration was something to look forward to. Time spent with family was truly the highlight of Janet’s life.

Proud of her Sicilian heritage, Janet was a wonderful cook. Her sauce and lasagna roll-ups were legendary, but she was even more famous for her cookies, which were a much-loved part of family gatherings. She also enjoyed games and cards and was happiest when surrounded by others, sharing laughter, conversation, and good times.

Janet was a talented and enthusiastic crafter throughout her life. In her later years, she especially enjoyed watercolor painting, which became her favorite creative outlet. She was proud to have entered several of her paintings in art shows. She loved keeping her hands busy and creating things for herself and those around her.

Janet was the beloved wife of the late Dennis Farragher of Weymouth; devoted mother of John Farragher of Colorado, Denise Hall and her husband, Brian, of Hingham, and Christine Farragher and her husband, Ray Merry, of Colorado; and cherished Grammy of Matthew, Kathryn, and Nathan.

She was the loving sister of Marilyn Hill and her husband, Edward, of Brockton, and the late Gerald Curreri, Joseph Curreri, Claudette Curreri, Arlene Lebsak, Leonard Curreri, and Richard Curreri. She is also survived by her sister-in-laws Joan Curreri of Ohio and Judy Curreri of Holbrook and many nieces and nephews.

Janet will be remembered for her deep love of family and friends, her creative spirit, her wonderful cooking, and her enthusiasm for every gathering and celebration. She will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday 11/2/2026 from 4-7 PM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main Street (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hospital). Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday 11/3/2026 at 10:30 AM in McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rt. 18 opp. South Shore Hospital) , Weymouth.
