Janice M. Flint, 88, of Houlton, Maine, and formerly of Hyannis, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026. She was the wife of the late Frank E. Flint.
Janice grew up in Weymouth, Massachusetts where she was a gifted student and accomplished dancer who loved sharing her passion by teaching others. She was Head Majorette for St. Jerome’s CYO Band. In high school, Janice performed in numerous acclaimed ballet recitals on stages across the South Shore and Boston.
After her marriage to Frank Flint, they moved to Cape Cod, where they raised five children in Hyannis. Janice’s charming personality positioned her well for a career in hospitality. For many years she was a beloved hostess at Mitchell’s Restaurant in Hyannis, where her natural charisma and welcoming spirit made every guest feel like a regular. In her later years she resided in Houlton, Maine, which enabled her to spend much of her time with her cherished family. Janice enjoyed traveling and took every opportunity to visit her grandchildren when they lived in Paris, France. You’d never know she didn’t speak French as she had no hesitation in striking up Franglais conversations in shops and cafes with the locals.
Janice had a way of lighting up a room. She was known for her radiant smile, her quick wit, and an ease that made people feel instantly comfortable. A natural storyteller, she could hold a table captive with a perfectly timed tale. Janice carried herself with a natural grace that people often noticed immediately. She was deeply faithful, a devoted Catholic, and she cared intensely about the people in her life. She loved to sew, decorate, and could fix just about anything, including cars. Janice was a passionate New England Patriots fan and spent most Sundays with her family cheering them on. Her friendships were many and her loyalty to them absolute.
Janice is survived by her children Lynnet Conley and her husband Tom, Lisa Hurley, Thomas Flint and his wife Beverlee, and Robert Flint and his wife Andrea; her daughter-in-law Helen Flint, wife of the late Frank Flint Jr.; her son-in-law John Hurley; her brother Stephen Oliva and his wife Andrea; fourteen grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Frank Flint, her son Frank Flint Jr., her brother Francis Oliva, and her parents Anthony and Mary Oliva.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 19th from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at Keohane Funeral Home, QUINCY. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 20th at 10:30 AM at Saint Ann’s Church in Quincy, Massachusetts, followed by a burial at Woodside Cemetery in Cohasset, Massachusetts.
