Jean M.
Quinn
August 29, 1926 – May 29, 2026
Church of Resurrection
Starts at 11:00 am (Eastern time)
Jean M. Quinn, 99, 3 months shy of 100, of Hingham, MA passed in the loving presence of her family on May 29.
Born and raised in Randolph, MA, she was the daughter of the late James V. Donovan and Helen (Kelleher) Donovan and the sister of the late Mary Meaney and Helen Lorenzetti, the “Donovan girls of Randolph”.
Jean and her husband, Robert J. Quinn, enjoyed 64 years of devoted marriage until his death in 2015. They raised their family in Holbrook, MA, spending many happy summer days in Dennis. Later on they moved to Braintree, before retiring to Naples FL, and finally returning to live at Linden Ponds in 2012.
Jean is survived by her three children, Mary Q. Gallagher (Jim), R. Michael Quinn (Mary), and Richard D. Quinn (Tammy), all of Plymouth, MA. As “Grammy”, she is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who brought her enormous pleasure.
A 1944 graduate of Stetson High School in Randolph, Jean received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Emmanuel College in 1948 after four much-loved years. She taught elementary students at Belcher School in Randolph, St. Joseph School in Holbrook, and Sacred Heart School in Weymouth, MA.
Jean was an active volunteer in many church activities, community agencies and Linden Ponds clubs using her natural gifts to guide, organize and participate with young and old.
Jean’s faith was the grounding of her life. She was committed to putting her love of God and all God’s people into practice. Jean had an insatiable desire to learn in all areas of life and sought to expand her own perspectives to include that of others.
Her living spaces were full of books: biographies abounding along with mysteries and uplifting novels in Irish settings. She strove to give her best in all things, especially to avoid losing in any game of cards; just ask her children, grandchildren and bridge partners!
She was the best kind of teacher: a woman who never stopped yearning to increase in wisdom herself. She appreciated the arts: music, drama, dance. She honed her natural creativity in many ways with yarn, thread, recipes and putting brush to canvas.
She was kind, warm, welcoming, always ready with a smile and a listening ear. She was appreciative of the life God began in her. And so are we.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Croix Health and Hospice, 120 Longwater Drive, Norwell, MA 02061.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather and greet her family at 10:30 AM on Tuesday June 9th, 2026 for Jean’s Funeral Mass in the Church of the Resurrection, Hingham that will begin at 11 AM.
Burial will be held at a later date.
