Jeanne Thomay

Jeanne Thomay, born on June 26, 1951, in Webster, MA, peacefully departed this life on December 19, 2025, in the heart of Boston. She leaves behind a legacy woven with love, positivity, warmth, and an unwavering spirit that touched the lives of everyone who were fortunate enough to know her.

Jeanne’s childhood in Webster was filled with treasured memories, shaped by the warmth of her family and her deep love for the community. A proud graduate of Bryant College, she earned her BS in Business Administration in 1973, marking the beginning of a successful career that reflected her dedication and passion. Jeanne worked at her family’s supermarket, Thrifty's, while in high school, where she developed a work ethic and warm customer relations that would stay with her throughout her life.

In the late 1970s, her career path took her to Tampa, Florida, where she honed her skills in sales. However, her love for her home state of Massachusetts called her back, and she soon embarked on a remarkable journey with National Steel Service Centers, becoming one of only two women in the country to hold the position of Territory Manager for Connecticut. This position and her subsequent work through two buyouts ultimately led her to a fulfilling career at American Strip Steel, from which she retired in 2022.

Jeanne's life blossomed in 1983 when she married her beloved husband Frank Thomay. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, welcoming their son Matthew into the world in 1993. Jeanne’s role as a mother was one of her greatest joys, and she embraced it fully, instilling in Matthew the values of hard work, laughter, and love that she held dear. She is survived by her cherished son, Matthew Thomay, and his wife Linjie Xu, both of Hudson, MA.

The bond Jeanne shared with her family extended to her siblings, where she is survived by her sister Mary Douglass and her husband Tom Doublas of Chandler, AZ, as well as a supportive sister-in-law, Mary Jakubowski, wife of Jeanne's late brother Ronald Jakubowski of Dudley, MA, her late brother Richard Jabukowsi, sister-in-law Helen Vidito of Weymouth, MA, and sister-in-law Louise Thomay of Sarasota, FL. She also leaves behind several beloved nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, all of whom cherished her deeply.

A woman of varied interests, Jeanne found joy in gardening, cooking, and spending time in nature. She adored vacations, particularly those to Disney World and Hawaii, where precious family moments were made. Family traditions, especially her cherished Polish customs, brought her immense joy, most notably during the holidays which she celebrated with laughter and heartfelt decorations. Evenings were often spent cozily relaxing with her favorite TV shows and movies, a testament to her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life.

As we bid farewell to Jeanne Thomay, we remember her kindness, her resilience, and the radiance she brought into every room. Her legacy will live on in the memories she created with her loved ones, in the laughter shared among friends, and in the love that will forever bind her family. She will be deeply missed but warmly remembered for the wonderful person she was to so many.
