Jeffrey F. “Jeff” O’Rourke of North Quincy, formerly of Houghs Neck, passed away on Monday, May 11, 2026. He was 85.
He was born to Barbara (Litchfield) and Thomas O’Rourke in Quincy. When Jeff was 12 the family moved to Soldotna, AK and he lived there for many years, graduating from Kenai High School. One Christmas, he returned to Quincy to visit his grandmother and was introduced to the neighbor’s granddaughter, Laura (Coughlin). The two connected immediately and Jeff moved back to Quincy to be with her. One of their first dates being Laura’s senior prom. They were later married and had 4 kids.
Jeff worked as a long-haul trucker for over 20 years. When he was younger, he enjoyed drag racing. Jeff and his son Tom often spent quality time together fixing up cars in their driveway.
His stoic nature was often lightened by his dry sense of humor. If you knew him well, you knew he was hysterical. He was quite handy, especially with cars and would often help family and friends with their cars. As a true New Englander he was also an unwavering Red Sox fan, even while living in Alaska. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Beloved husband of 63 years to Laura (Coughlin) O’Rourke. Devoted father to Tom O’Rourke of Quincy, Lori O’Rourke of Quincy, Colleen Torpey and her husband Kevin of Norwood and the late Patricia O’Rourke. Adoring grandfather to Kerri Sullivan, Matthew Sampson, Pierce and Patricia Torpey and great grandfather to Kaylee and Cameron Peters and Mason Sampson. Loving brother to Barbara Minich of Anchorage, AK and the late Janice Svedlund. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Friday May 22, from 4-7 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in the funeral home at 9:15 AM on Saturday, May 23, prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Chrysostom's Episcopal Church, 1 Linden St., Quincy, at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jeff’s name may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4550 Montgomery Ave., Suite 1100 N, Bethesda, MD 20814.
