Carey, Joan of Quincy, died March 24, 2026.
Joan adored her family, especially her daughters. She enjoyed going on adventures with her girls, talking with her friends, her dog Luna, and her pride and joy (diet coke with extra ice). Joan was a dedicated NICU respiratory therapist for over 25 years at New England Medical Center and South Shore Hospital. She devoted her life to caring for others. She fought a long battle with her health while staying selfless, brave, strong, resilient, and putting others first. Joan was a beautiful, loving, and supportive woman who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Cherished daughter of Vivian (Scola) of Quincy and the late Robert Carey. Devoted mother of Bailee and Kailyn Carey of Quincy. Loving sister of Kathy Roach and her husband Michael of Easton, Karen Player and her late husband Larry of Quincy, Bob Carey and his wife Kristina Higgins of North Reading, and Cherylann Sullivan of Quincy. Dear aunt of Nicole, Chris, Ryan, Kyle, Connor, Catherine, Elizabeth, Meredith, Zachary, Cameron, and Alexis. Also survived by her daughter’s partner Randy Olivolo, her beloved dog Luna, and many friends and relatives.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Wednesday 4/1/2026 from 10 AM-1 PM in the Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., QUINCY followed by a funeral home service at 1 PM. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to South Shore Hospital NICU, 55 Fogg Road, Box 72, South Weymouth, MA 02190-2455, or online at South Shore Health.
