John Anthony Riley, 67, of Hingham Massachusetts, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Friday April 8th, 2016.
A lifelong resident of Hingham, he devoted much of his time to the town and preserving its historic value. John served on the town’s Planning Board for 21 years and also served as an elected official on the Board of Selectmen for six. John was very proud to serve the community for those 27 years. As President of F. Riley Construction, he worked tirelessly on projects all over the South Shore that will be appreciated for generations to come. John’s motivation for the work he accomplished was always for the betterment of his family and providing his children with the highest levels of education. His devotion to his family will always be cherished. His protectors and grandsons Eli and Jamus, will forever have warm memories of their Papa.
John is survived by his children Marie T. Woollacott and her husband Justin of Louisville, CO, Jason A. Riley and his fiancee Bailey James of Braintree, Benjamin H. Riley and Nathan J. Riley both of Hingham. Loving companion of Bonnie B. Hobbs of Hingham. Son of the late Frank P. and Mildred B.(Callahan) Riley. Devoted brother of Mildred T. Moynihan of Wellsley, Francine M. Cappella of Hingham, Kathleen R. Bryanton and her husband Donald of Hingham, Margaret A. Sullivan of Sheridan, WY and the late Peter F. Riley, Jr. and Cecelia B. Riley. Cherished Papa of Eli M and Jamus H. Woollacott. Former husband of Therese MacLean Riley of Quincy. John is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours on Tuesday 4-8pm in the Pyne Keohane Funeral Home, 21 Emerald St. ( off Central St.) Hingham. A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday in Old Ship Church, 107 Main St. Hingham at 10am. Burial in High Street Cemetery, Hingham.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of John may be made to the Hingham Historical Society, P.O. Box 434, Hingham, MA. United States Navy Veteran.
