John J. “Jack” Leary, Jr., of Bonita Springs, FL, formerly of No. Quincy, MA, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026, at the age of 94, surrounded by his loving family.
Born and raised in Quincy to John and Helen Leary, Jack was a graduate of North Quincy High School. After serving in the Navy, he attended Boston State College. Jack had a long and dedicated 40-year career with New England Telephone Co. / NYNEX. Following his retirement, Jack served as a Board Director for Liberty Bay Credit Union and enjoyed many years working at TPC Boston in Norton.
Jack and his beloved wife, Maureen, both attended North Quincy High, though their paths didn’t cross until later when a chance meeting on the ice rink sparked a lifelong love. They married and built their life together in Quincy, raising their family there.
A loving husband and devoted father, Jack loved spending time with his family and was always there to help when needed. He truly was a “Jack of all trades.” Although Massachusetts was home, he cherished his winters in Bonita Springs, enjoying the sunshine, golf and time spent with loved ones. He was an avid golfer, active in several golf clubs over the years. It seemed no matter where he played, he would always run into a familiar face.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife of 67 years, Maureen (Cook) Leary, and his son, John J. Leary III. He is survived by his children: Maureen Leary-Jago and her husband Mark of Bonita Springs, FL; Michael Leary and his wife Anne of Westford, MA; Mark Leary and his wife Lynda of Foxboro, MA; Patrick Leary and his wife Suzanne of Hanover, MA; and Paul Leary and his wife Lisa of Stoughton, MA; as well as his daughter-in-law Mary Ann Leary of Pottstown, PA. He was the beloved brother of the late Mary Lou Flynn of Weymouth. Jack also leaves 18 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Jack’s life on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Keohane Funeral Home, 785 Hancock St., Quincy. Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jack’s memory to Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, 300 Arnold Palmer Blvd. Norton, MA 02766 or go to www.ouimet.org.
