John L. Collins, of Weymouth, died September 8, 2026, surrounded by love at the age of 70.

Born in Boston, John was the son of the late Robert and Dorothy (Giorgetti) Collins. He was a longtime resident of the South Shore and enjoyed boating, fishing, and sports. He was an avid animal lover and always had a dog by his side and a smile on his face.

John was a graduate of Dean College and Northeastern University. Later, he was employed by Northeastern University. He played football throughout high school and junior college.

He was a loving father of Christopher Collins of Monroe, GA, Cassie Collins of Weymouth, MA, and the late Patrick Collins. His best days were spent in the water with his kids.

As a former husband of Eileen Wainwright of Monroe, GA the two remained close friends.

Brother of Mary Lou Collins of Barre, VT, Timothy Collins and his wife, Nancy of Barre, VT, and Robert Collins of Randolph, MA.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He will be loved and missed forever.

A Celebration of Life will be held on October 3rd from 1 - 4 pm at The Beth Kitchen and Bar in Hingham, MA. Please join his family and friends in watching the boats together one final time.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to the Arc of the South Shore to help others with disabilities.
